“Tinderella” by Dairy Family is a song that had me on its side from the very beginning, one that I think truly has something for everyone. It’s nearly five and a half minutes long, so that’s a given! “Tinderella” is a song like a great lasagna, with layer upon layer of detail that combines to create one amazing product.
“Tinderella” begins with a drum lead-in, which has gotta be one of the most underrated types of lead-ins in tunes today. Not only that, but these drums have a crisp sound, some of the clearest I’ve heard on a song in a while. This is true of the guitar too, because it has this perfect jangle that gives it a great base. “Tinderella” is a laid-back, easy listening type of song, one that sounds like Steely Dan left behind a secret instrumental that Dairy Family unearthed and added vocals to. I say vocals with emphasis, because they’ve struck the perfect balance of a gentle lead and angelic backing vocals that leave nothing to be desired.
“Tinderella” also makes use of some unorthodox instruments, such as an organ (!!) and terrific horns. This lets the song transition in the middle from one groove to another, an instrumental closing where the bass goes crazy until everyone comes back around for one last dazzle. “Tinderella” is a song that displays togetherness and collaboration between the many members, one that allows everyone to shine throughout, and that’s what makes it truly great.

Call me crazy, but the instrumental kinda reminds me of Hall & Oates. Great track
