I’ve always had an affinity for road trip movies, and I think a lot of it has to do with the original Muppet Movie. I was obsessed with it when I was younger, and while all the scenes were pretty cool, I always loved the ones that took place in the car the most. I mean, who wouldn’t? A big part of that was the catchy songs that they drove down the road to, because “Movin’ Right Along” has had a place in my heart since I first heard it. While they never really showed what else Fozzie and Kermit listened to on their long trip, I can confidently say that I know they would have loved to listen to Something Sandy’s single “Wouldn’t Mind a Good Adventure”!
This song got my attention right away for maybe the best reason possible, and that’s a prominent kazoo section in the intro. It perfectly sets up the bright and happy feel that the rest of the tune invokes! It’s got a pretty jangly beat, a sort of go with the wind type of openness that you can’t help but nod your head to. The vocals are really great, with the melody being gentle enough to balance with the subtle low harmonies below. I like the backing vocals a lot too, little “ahhhs” that make the chorus even more catchy than it already is. The keyboard embellishes also satisfy that same niche, adding just a little bit of ear candy that makes this song really pop!
“Wouldn’t Mind a Good Adventure” is a fun, bright track that’s perfect for any situation, be it a walk on a sunny day or a road trip with your favorite frog & bear. This is the type of song to bring an instant smile to your face, and for that alone I’m excited to hear more from Something Sandy!
